The campaign to elect Claudia Vizcarra to School Board invites everyone to a fun fundraiser for the candidate. A box lunch in Media Park provided by the famous Tito’s Tacos followed by a seat to the play Oy! at The Actor’s Gang Theater at the Ivy Substation, and a unique after play commentary from the stage is being offered as a package for $50.00 a person. The play without lunch is $40. The event is planned for Sunday, October 13th with lunch at 12:30 and the performance beginning at 2:00 p.m.
The play is written by Helene Cixous and directed by Georges Bigot. It is the story of two German Jewish sisters living in Paris who visit the city of their childhood. When they return home, they discuss the variety of emotions, opinions, and memories that have surfaced. The story raises the question of forgiveness, the work of memories and transmission to new generations, and the state of modern racism throughout the world. It is emotional, humorous and compelling.
Claudia, with two children in Culver schools, is running for a seat on the School Board where she will be able to use her years of experience working with policy makers, parents, community groups, teachers and district staff to help our district transition to the new Common Core standards. Being bi-lingual and bi-cultural provides her with a strong understanding of various segments of the community. Her goal is that our students remain curious, inspired and focused on learning, and working collectively this can be accomplished.
