Women of the 405, a group of six women, all writers and performers, who make their homes here in Los Angeles, will be performing at the Whole 9 Gallery on Main Street in Downtown Culver City on Sunday, September 15, 2013. This eclectic group of women came together two years ago for one main purpose: to share their authentic stories as a means of creating a sense of cohesiveness, connection and belonging in this sprawling city of Los Angeles. Hence, the name Women of the 405.
“Our stories helped many of our audience members see that we’re all going through it – this thing called Life” writer and co-producer, Gabby Friedenthal explains. “The reason we’ve had such positive feedback about our shows is because so many people can find the ‘Me Too! Moment!’: That moment where you get to say “PHEW -I’m not the only one feeling this way.” Our group is diverse enough that there seems to be something to connect to for everyone.”
This year, a quartet of Westside girls – Emma deZarn, Carly Schiever, Lily Fanali and Jessie Grimaldo, will be performing for the preshow. “We like to think of these girls as future 405 Women. There beautiful voices will lend a great deal to the show!” shares Francine Graff, writer and performer. “I’m thrilled they will be opening for us.”
Also noteworthy is where the Women of the 405 will perform. The Whole 9 Gallery on Main Street in Downtown Culver City is a beautiful space housing functional art from members of TheWhole9.com, an international online creative community. Twenty-five percent of all sales in the gallery go to The Peace Project, a non-profit, connected to the whole 9, which fund peace projects around the world.
Janine deZarn, writer and co-producer of Women of the 405 shared that “We love collaborating with such a worthy art institution. We are all artists speaking the same language of connection to not only people living here in Los Angeles, but of the whole world.”
Tickets are $12.00. Wine drinking (there will be wine) and art and jewelry viewing (and shopping) will also be part of both Sunday, September 15, performances. Reservations are highly recommended as the shows book out quickly. To reserve go to www.womenofthe405.com and click on reservations.
