Over the course of her life, a woman will experience many rites of passage. One of the most significant is the transition from childhood to womanhood, represented by a Sweet 16 Party. Vox Femina Los Angeles is celebrating this landmark in the third and final concert of its 16th season: It’s Our Party! A Sweet/Sassy 16 Party.
This event, which includes Vox singers in full 1960s regalia, will be held Saturday, June 15 at 8 p.m. at Zipper Concert Hall, The Colburn School (200 S. Grand Ave., Los Angeles, CA 90012). The final concert of the choir’s 16th season is a coming of age celebration to commemorate 16 years of women in music. Join the party as Vox leads audience members on a musical excursion back to the era of girl groups, ponytails, poodle skirts and everything in between!
Still need a reason to party with Vox? Here are 16 to choose from…
Because any reason to revisit the 60s is a good reason.
All the excitement with none of the pimples.
No driving test is required.
It’s a chance to redeem (or revive) your teenage style.
Live music is not just for teenagers.
We all should be surrounded by talented women.
You are young at heart.
To remember a more innocent time.
Uninhibited dancing is encouraged.
Everyone loves a costume party.
Then you were sweet, now you’re sassy.
Nostalgia is good for you.
Listening to music your parents disapproved of still feels a little dangerous.
