This week, CCUSD completed a number of campus walk-throughs to evaluate existing security, identify potential improvements and schedule immediate facility repairs. On Wednesday, Superintendent Dave LaRose, pictured here, toured Linwood E. Howe Elementary School with Principal Kim Indelicato, CCPD School Resource Officer Al Casillas, CCUSD Security Director Ted Yant and Mike Reynolds, Assistant Superintendent – Business Services.
The District has or will shortly visit each campus and conduct similar walk-throughs with CCUSD Security, Facilities, Business Services, Culver City Police Department, school principals and site parents. The review assesses gates, access points, reviews needs, and develops plans of action.
“We are being very deliberate and looking at everything,” LaRose said. “Our focus is on how we can improve what we are already doing – ways to tighten up campus access points, improve communications and quickly repair anything related directly or indirectly to campus security. Of course, we’re also looking at new ideas and new ways to keep our students and employees safe.”
LaRose added that he encourages parents or community members with ideas, comments or concerns related to CCUSD security to contact him directly at (310) 842-4222 or via email at [email protected].
