Culver City Rotarians are giving a new look to their Annual 10K Fundraiser by combining it with a Casino Night that will be held on Saturday, November 3rd. Sounds and could be VERY rewarding!

Sad to note the passing of Bob Wassertheur, long-time Exchange Club member, former Culver City Police Department Sergeant, Chief of Security at Culver City High School, and more. Bob was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War, and before coming to Culver City served on the El Segundo Police Department. Bob, 81, in hospice care in Oceanside at the time of his death, is mourned by wife Darlene, sons Robert, Randy, Jim and granddaughter Audrey, along with stepsons Dan and Michael and step grandchildren Jami, Cory and Kelly. His sharp wit and – yes – sarcasm, provided many a laugh to Culverites who knew him. His ashes were scattered in San Diego this week and a memorial service will be held in Culver City, date to be announced.

Odille Hansen will lead in a discussion of the state, county and Culver City propositions that will appear on the ballot on election day, November 6. Attendees will receive a handout package containing a summary of what each measure’s pros and cons. Odille is a former member of the Rand Corp and a long time Y member, and has reportedly “…done this before and is quite skilled in leading discussions in which opinions have a tendency to get heated. She’ll keep it under control.” The Culver-Palms Family YMCA is located at 4500 Sepulveda Blvd. Call (310) 390-3604 for additional information. The event is free and open to the community.
