Crosswalk Construction Start Postponed by Rain

While the construction on the Washington Blvd./Boise Ave. pedestrian crossing signal was scheduled to begin today, the weather had other plans.  Sammy Romo, Project/Construction Manager for Steiny and Company, Inc. offered “As soon as it clears up, we should be able to go ahead with it.” Rain is expected to clear by Jan 24.

The work is scheduled to be completed by March 2012. This project consists of placing a pedestrian crossing signal at the intersection of Washington Boulevard and Boise Avenue, along with conduit, traffic signal controller, electrical wiring, and a new paver crosswalk.

Due to the construction, there may be side effects; temporary loss of street parking, a brief loss of driveway access, construction noise, dust, etc., even though every effort will be made by the city and the contractor to minimize these inconveniences. The city asks that “Your patience and cooperation in observing all traffic controls, parking restrictions and traffic control workers will be sincerely appreciated and will help in expediting construction of the project.”

The expected hours of work will be from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday.
