League of Women Voters has just begun a partnership with the Violence Prevention Coalition to provide education about ways to smooth the reintegration of convicts into society. Why is this important? Well, something called “realignment” is about to transfer the responsibility for many thousands of convicts from state to county agencies, and will resulting in the release from custody of many incarcerated individuals.
On Tuesday November 15, Jean Thomson will be joining us to provide an update on this partnership and other criminal justice issues of interest to the League. Jean is a League expert on the state prison system.
