Workshop on Jan. 29 – Cash for College

State Senator Curren D. Price, Jr. (D-Los Angeles) will host a free “Cash for College” Workshop on Saturday, Jan. 29 between the hours of 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. at the Exposition Park-Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune Regional Branch Library, located at 3900 S. Western Boulevard, Los Angeles, CA 90062. Financial Aid professionals will be on-hand to assist parents and students with the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), Cal grant forms, and to answer any other college financial aid-related questions. There will also be scholarship resources available.

Senator Price strongly urges all high school and college students to apply for the Cal Grant before the March 2nd deadline. Cal Grant Awards are state-funded monetary grants given to students to help pay for college expenses. These awards do not have to be repaid.

“We need to get the word out to students in our communities that every low to moderate income student who meets certain academic standards is guaranteed a Cal Grant award, “stated Senator Price.
The state of California administers Cal Grant Awards to eligible students to finance tuition and fees at qualifying colleges, universities, career or technical schools in California. Both current college students and high school seniors who have maintained at least a 2.0 grade point average are encouraged to apply. For more information on Cal Grants, go to www.calgrants.org.

To attend this workshop, please call Senator Price’s District Office at (213) 745-6656 to RSVP.
