Culver City resident Corinne Lightweaver is an artist, writer, and editor, and a two-time cancer survivor. A parent at El Marino, Corinne portrays her journey of healing from cancer in her art exhibit “Selected Works 2008–2010: Collage and Assemblage” at Premiere Oncology Foundation in Santa Monica through December 31. The exhibit and her book “In the Breast of Health: Healing from Cancer through Art” record the artist’s journey with breast cancer. Before her diagnosis, Corinne worked as an expressionist painter, with wildlife as her favorite subject. After her diagnosis, she began using discarded fabric scraps and objects as well as new methods—cutting, pasting, and piecing—that comprised the best storytelling method for piecing a body and a life together again. The exhibit is open to the public by appointment only, Monday–Friday, 10 am – 5 pm. Please contact POF Executive Director Robbie Gluckson at (310) 570-1474 for more information or to schedule an appointment.
