Sierra Club Presents Santa Monica Mountains

Just in time for spring, the West Los Angeles Group of the Sierra Club is proud to present “The Santa Monica Mountains, LA’s Best Idea!” with photographer James Kenney. Jim is a co-author with Milt McCauley of the definitive guide to the wildflowers of the Santa Monica Mountains. The Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area is an underutilized resource of peace and tranquility located just minutes from your front door!
Take a walk on the wild side of Los Angeles, 60,000 acres of beauty and solitude located in our own back yard! Join us for a virtual tour of the 70 mile Backbone Trail of the Santa Monica Mountains, see their incredible wildflowers and fascinating plant communities that are part of the region’s fire ecology of burn and rebirth. The winter rains have brought new life to the Santa Monica Mountains – find out what’s
blooming in our own backyard!

“Climb the mountains and get their good tidings. Nature’s peace will flow into you as sunshine flows into trees. The winds will blow their own freshness into you, and the storms their energy, while cares will drop off like autumn leaves.” – John Muir
