Upward Bound House Fundraiser- March 12

The highly acclaimed Queen Bee Waxing Salon & Spa is re-opening to great fanfare on Friday, March 12. The “by invitation only” soiree, which starts at 6:00 pm, will feature an exciting silent auction, including signed donations from Neil Diamond, The San Diego Chargers and more! 100% of the proceeds from the auction will be donated to Upward Bound House.

“Upward Bound House is helping us get one step closer to eliminating homelessness,” said Jodi Shays owner of Queen Bee Salon. “We are proud to support their efforts and I am thrilled to have their new Culver City facility close by. I am also honored that the Mayor of Culver City, Andy Weissman, will be in attendance with his wife Doneil Weissman.”

Upward Bound House’s Family Shelter serves approximately 210 children and their parents each year, serving as a significant resource in the region’s effort to place vulnerable children in safe, dignified housing. Families stay in the units for three months, during which time they work with case managers to get back on their feet through stabilization services and permanent housing placement assistance.

The mission of Upward Bound House is to eliminate homelessness among families with children in Los Angeles by providing housing, supportive services and advocacy. Since 1997, more than 1,100 individuals – including over 650 children – have graduated from Upward Bound House and are no longer homeless.
