The City of Culver City is pleased to announce the appointment of Tomás Herrera‑Mishler as its new Director of Parks, Recreation & Community Services (PRCS). This appointment reflects the City’s continued commitment to strengthening executive leadership, advancing community well‑being, and aligning departmental operations with City Council priorities for equity, vitality, and long‑term sustainability.
Herrera‑Mishler will report to Assistant City Manager for Economic Development, Vitality, and Equity, Adam K. Troy, and will play a central role in shaping the future of Culver City’s parks, recreation programs, senior and social services, and community‑centered initiatives.
Assistant City Manager Troy emphasized the significance of the appointment.
“Tomás brings a powerful blend of strategic leadership, design expertise, and a deep commitment to community vitality,” Troy said. “His experience in parks stewardship, inclusive programming, and landscape architecture aligns directly with the City’s vision for equitable access to public spaces and services. We are excited to welcome him to Culver City.”
A seasoned executive and licensed Landscape Architect, Herrera‑Mishler brings an extensive portfolio of major park, public landscape, and tourism planning projects across the United States, Latin America, and the Caribbean. His work spans large‑scale master plans, cultural landscapes, waterfronts, and community‑centered public spaces that strengthen local economies and enhance ecological resilience.
Herrera‑Mishler will begin his tenure on June 1, 2026.
