On May 7, 2022 at West Los Angeles College saw the return of the Exchange Club’s Culver City Charity Car Show, a local tradition celebrating Southern California’s unique car culture. This year’s entries included custom cars from 1920’s Model A’s and 1940’s roadsters to the muscle cars of the 1960’s & 70’s. While being entertained with live music, those lucky enough to attend had the chance to get up close and personal with more than 300 classic custom cars from all over the region.
This family friendly event was also a professionally judged competition with trophies presented in more than 40 categories from Coolest Corvair and Best Corvette to Best Muscle Truck and Best Flames. The competition was stiff, and all winners were spectacular. Under blue skies and perfect weather, attendance at this year’s show was estimated to approach 10,000.
“We are pleased that we can finally get back to doing what we do best – putting on local events that show the best that Culver City has to offer,” said event Co-Coordinator Dr. Jay Shery. “COVID put a crimp in our ability to put on events like our charity car. It’s a ton of work for our volunteers. But the result and benefit to our community is well worth the effort.”
All net proceeds from the car show are used by the Exchange Club to support local youth programs such as the YMCA and Sandy Segal Youth Health Center, to fund the Exchange Club’s annual college scholarship program, to prevent child abuse and towards efforts to end Veteran homelessness.
