The Academy of Visual and Performing Arts is pleased to take a bow. They had 15 AVPA Art students and 1 AVPA Film student from win multiple Gold, Silver, and Honorable Mention Awards for their exceptional talent in the visual arts from the 2018 Scholastic Art and Writing Awards competition. AVPA Art 9th grader, Lacey Burns, also won a Silver Key for her poem, “An Elegy For Life.” All “Gold Key” awards recognize the highest level of achievement for their individual work in visual art. Brennan Elliott, Isabella Chardiet, and Juliana Zamora will now continue to compete at the national level in New York City for further scholarship consideration.
Scholastic Art & Writing Awards is a nation-wide arts and writing competition open to all high school students across the nation. Scholastic Art and Writing strives to identify talented high school artists and writers from all over the United States. Through the competition, students are given opportunities in exhibition, publication, scholarships and exposure on the national level. Over 330,000 works of art are submitted every year in 17 different categories for visual art. This competition recognizes students at the regional and national levels and is known widely by premier artistic institutions and colleges.
