The CC Backpacks for Kids and Culver Closet had their Kick-Off to School event on August 6, 2026. The groups served more than 250 students with produce boxes, backpacks with school supplies, clothing, shoes, books, and so much more. CC Backpacks for Kids and Culver Closet would like to thank everyone who supported the event through donations and time volunteered.

Thank you to the CC Rotary Club for their donation of $10,000 and the CC Exchange Club for $2,500 in food that will go into the weekly food bags for the students and families in the Backpacks for Kids Program.
Thank you to Westside Food Bank for its partnership – not only in food for the bags, but also for serving the community with weekly produce and fruit boxes at Farragut parking lot. (On Thursdays between 3 and 4 p.m. every week.)
Thank you to the Culver Closet for continuing to provide clothing, shoes, and personal care products to all the families in need. Thank you to Girl Scout Troops 5465 and 925 for donating reading books for the students.

The CC Backpacks for Kids Program is run by the Culver City Council PTA, which works with all the individual Culver City school PTA/PTSA units. The group also collaborates with Culver City Educational Foundation (CCEF) and CCUSD to provide weekly easy-to-prepare food and snacks to students who have food insecurities. The program is run 100% by volunteers and from donations, both monetarily and in-kind. If you would like donate, please click the following link:
