Dear Editor,
As the Council discusses food trucks at city parks, let’s remember the reasons for denying the In-N-Out proposed construction. Some residents expressed concerns about pollution, the traffic congestion, the dangers of errant drivers around kids, and the lingering aroma of frying food. The City Council listened, imposing a moratorium on new drive-throughs.
The same reasoning applies to the placement of food trucks in residential neighborhoods. We don’t want the air pollution and noise of on-board power generators and the smell of food permeating our neighborhoods. Pedestrians will be endangered by crossing streets mid-block. Food trucks belong along commercial corridors.
I encourage a no vote for placement of food trucks at city parks.
