The Film & TV Production Program at West Los Angeles College invites the community to explore their 16,000 square foot sound stage and trade workshops on Saturday, March 21 between 11 am to 2 pm.
Guests can talk with instructors about training pathways in behind-the-scenes careers, including grip, lighting, editing and set decorating. The program also features newer offerings in virtual production and a two-year film curriculum designed for students planning to transfer to a university.
“Our location in Culver City, ‘The Heart of Screenland’ and ‘one of the content capitals of the globe,’ gives our students unique exposure and opportunities in the entertainment and content creation industries,” said Laura Guichard, chair of the Arts and Performance Department.
Faculty will be available throughout the event to answer questions about coursework and career preparation. Classes emphasize hands-on training aligned with industry expectations, along with a capstone project that provides real-world work experience. Students also receive career readiness support, including life skills coaching and employment preparation.
Students who ultimately want to earn a Bachelor’s degree or MFA can get information on the Film, Television and Electronic Media Associate Degree for Transfer which is designed for aspiring producers, directors, cinematographers, screenwriters, development associates, casting directors, agents, script supervisors and editors. Coursework provides students with grounding in film and aesthetics and with hands-on experiences to provide technical skills.
