Citizen Public Market, which opened its doors in Culver City five years ago, has announced that it will close on November 2, 2025. Restaurants currently located in the local ‘food hall’ include Benevento, Go Go Bird, Jikoni, Smokey Chance, Sustainabowl, and Uoichiba.
Bar Bohemien, which occupies the roof at 9355 Culver Blvd. says they will be remaining open, and that the events that they have on the calendar past the end of October will proceed as scheduled.
Closure was announced on an Instagram post.
CPM opened in November of 2020 in the midst of the pandemic. Since its debut, the food hall has struggled to maintain consistent traffic, and the departure of early tenants like Good Boy Bob, Louella’s Cali Soul Kitchen, Pizzette, and the most recent 2024 loss of The Jolly Oyster was a foreshadowing of this next step.
The address is also noted as Culver City Historical Building #4, built by Eugene Donovan, and was originally the home of the local newspaper The Citizen. The paper re-located from an office on Main Street when the building was first completed. Papers were printed on-site in presses housed in rear of the structure. The building was given local landmark status in 1984, and is also in the National Registry of Historic Places.
All restaurants will be open, and happy to serve, until the closing date.
