Need to De-Tree? Green Bin, Drop Off or Pick Up

As January comes up, holiday decorations come down. If you have a Christmas tree that you need to dispose of, there are several options – two from the City, and one from a local Boy Scout troop.

If you are planning to put your tree in the green bin for composting, be aware that it must be small enough (either whole or in pieces) to fit IN the green bin. Trimming the limbs and cutting the trunk can do the job, but for Sanitation to pick up, it needs to be the correct size.

The Park Your Tree program is happening, with bins available at Vets and other parks to bring in your tree and add it to the designated dumpster for composting. These trees do not have to be cut, but make sure you have removed all ornaments, tinsel and toys. For details on dates and locations, please contact Culver City Public Works at 310-253-6400.

If you’s like the tree picked up but can’t cut it into bin-sized pieces, Boy Scout Troop 108 will be picking up trees from the curb on Saturday, January 11th or Sunday, January 12th.

The troop requests; remove all ornaments, lights, trimmings and the stand and have the Tree outside your home by 8 am the morning of pick up. We are asking for a $15 suggested donation for this service, but any amount is helpful, and no one will be denied service if they are unable to donate. To pay please send either a Zelle Payment or a Pay Pal Payment (sorry no Venmo) to: [email protected].
