Historic Swearing-In Ceremony for Ezidore to Include National, State and County Leaders

Culver City will be making history on Jan. 11, 2025 when Triston Ezidore is sworn into office as the President of the Culver City Unified School Board. Ezidore is youngest elected official in California, the youngest person to govern a school district in the United States and the first Black man to serve as President of the CCUSD Board of Education.

The ceremony will take place at the new Glorya Kaufman Community Center at the Wende Museum. Los Angeles County Second District Supervisor Holly J. Mitchell will officiate, and speakers will include Culver City’s Congressional Representative Sydney Kamlager-Dove,  California State Superintendent of Public Instruction Tony Thurmond, and 55th District Assemblymember Isaac Bryan.

Elected at the age of 19, Triston is an LGBTQ+ leader whose presidency comes at a critical time when LGBTQ+, and Black/African American rights, particularly in education, are under attack.

CCUSD serves over 7,000 students across ten school sites, a continuation high school, an iAcademy, and an adult school.

Ezidore’s leadership reflects the community’s commitment to equity and inclusion for all students.
