CCUSD Board Unanimously Designates Campuses as Safe Zones and Resource Centers

At the December 17, 2024 meeting, the CCUSD Board of Education unanimously adopted a resolution designating Culver City Unified School District Campuses as Safe Zones and Resource Centers for Students and Families.

The resolution was drafted in anticipation of the incoming Federal Administration’s immigration enforcement and proposed policies to dissolve public agencies, erode the autonomy of public institutions including public schools, and roll back progress for numerous communities that CCUSD serves every day has created a climate of heightened fear and anxiety for many CCUSD students, staff, and their families, including immigrants, women, non-binary, LGBTQ+, working class, and people living at or below the poverty line.

The District’s intent is to keep schools focused on teaching and learning so that students and families know they have a safe space where they belong so they can concentrate on learning, their extracurriculars, camaraderie, and friendships.
