Disney in Concert with “Silly Symphonies” @ MdR Summer Season

Free summer concerts return to Burton Chace Park this Saturday, July 13. The Marina del Rey Summer Symphony, led by Maestro Steven Allen Fox, opens the summer season with Disney’s A Silly Symphony Celebration.

From 1929 to 1939 — just ten short years — Walt Disney and his studio produced seventy-five Silly Symphonies, winning seven Academy awards and making possible Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs and everything that was to follow. In each cartoon, music commanded the spotlight.

Disney in Concert: A Silly Symphony Celebration is an experience of watching six of the Silly Symphonies while the music is performed live by our Summer Symphony orchestra. The music will be performed as it would have been recorded during the historic days at the Disney Hyperion Studio.

The music of the Three Little Pigs, The Old Mill, Flowers and Trees, The Skeleton Dance, Ugly Duckling, and MusicLand will be heard along with newly restored digital film projection. Each cartoon is introduced by Walt Disney himself, with additional narration by Rich Capparela.

Bring your picnic, a blanket, and a jacket (the ocean breeze can be quite cool once the sun goes down) and join us for a summer evening by the water.

Admission to this concert is FREE – no tickets required
Seating is festival-style, available on a first-come, first-served basis.
