El Rincon Celebrates Passport Night

El Rincon PTA DEI Committee brought back Passport Night – a multicultural event that celebrates the diversity of the school community. Families represented Ethiopia, Jamaica, Egypt, Canada, Norway, Denmark, El Savlador, Guatemala, Nigeria, India, Pakistan, Panama, Philippines, Thailand, Mexico and Japan with displays to learn more about their country, served delicious food and drink samples, did sushi-making, had cultural games, and even roasted fresh Ethiopian coffee.

Prime Time Sports provided Olympic themed games; the LA County Library created Native American art designs; yoga instructor Ritu Roy taught kids yoga; Pamana Kali and Ube Arte demonstrated Philippine martial arts and musical instruments; and the evening ended with a fashion show where students and adults showcased clothing from around the world.

More than 600 kids and adults attended this event chaired by Funmi Showole and the El Rincon PTA DEI Committee of Loren Monroe Trice, Julio Gasson, Teresa Wong, and VK Shah.
