Culver City’s favorite bookstore, the Village Well, is rolling out a whole new creative space; the Village Van. Launching their new nonprofit programming under the fiscal sponsorship of Creative Visions, the Village Well will now be able to accept tax deductible contributions that will help fund community outreach activities. The inaugural campaign is a book drive for the local nonprofit Ready, Set, Read!, which supports families and children aged 0-5 throughout LA by providing books, programs, and resources to reinforce young learning. Each year, they reach more than 10,000 children and distribute at least 40,000 high quality children’s books.
The Village Well is helping them raise $7,500 to gift 360 beautiful children’s books written by local authors to 90 LAUSD early childhood education centers with this van, putting new and relevant books into the hands of people in underserved communities, providing readers with access to authors, illustrators, and educators to harness the power of storytelling, foster community, and enrich lives.
With ‘giving season’ almost here, get an early start and help some early readers.
