Culver CityBus Honors Rosa Parks Day

Today, February 4, 2022, riders will notice an extra open seat on Culver CityBus. To honor the birthday of civil rights activist Rosa Parks and Transit Equity Day, Culver CityBus is keeping a seat open and placing a red rose on every bus as a tribute to her courageous act.

Culver CityBus salutes Rosa Parks (February 4, 1913 – October 24, 2005) and all who do their share to make a seat available for everyone.

Rosa Parks Day is celebrated annually both on her birthday, February 4, and on the day of her peaceful dissent, December 1. Through California Legislation, we became the first state to recognize Rosa Parks Day on February 4, 2000, which marked the 45th anniversary of her refusal to give up her bus seat.
