There’s nothing more traditional than movies in Culver City, and this year you can sample a new holiday tradition a the Wende Museum.
The Singing Ringing Tree was a children’s film made by East German studio DEFA in 1957 and shown in the form of a television series by the BBC. It was a story written by Anne Geelhaar based on a variation of “Hurleburlebutz” by the Brothers Grimm, directed by Francesco Stefani. The Wende Museum will be presenting this popular European holiday film DAS SINGENDE KLINGENDE BÄUMCHEN (The Singing, Ringing Tree) on
Saturday, December 15, 2018 at 3 p.m.
Presented in cooperation with the Goethe-Institut Los Angeles and the DEFA Film Library at the University of Massachusetts Amherst.
Based on a fragment from a fairy tale by the Brothers Grimm, The Singing, Ringing Tree is a much-loved landmark of European children’s cinema.
