2018 Welcomed Tribute to the Stars in a new venue — Italian Gallery, Unici Casa located just east of Duquesne.
CCEF was delighted to announce and award our first installation of the Culver Pride Award to Silicon Valley Titan and Culver City High School graduate — Class of 1977, Mark Stevens! Golden State Warriors and Los Angeles Dodgers co-owner, Peter Guber, was on hand to deliver the Culver Pride award and heartwarming remarks about Mark. Mark raised the bar by doubling his support to CCEF!
Culver Park student, Victoria Adrien Guerro, took center stage sharing the impact of CCEF supported programs in her personal educational development. Paula & Tom Wilson gave a powerful speech about the importance of volunteerism and service as they bestowed this year’s Shining Star award to Leslie Adler.
The Culver City Rotary Community Foundation presented the Classified Employee of the Year award to Erika Arredondo — representing Farragut Elementary School.
Of course the evening would not have been complete without the presentation of the coveted Teacher of the Year award. Janice Pober from Sony Pictures Entertainment presented Debby Ishii, from La Ballona Elementary School, with this prestigious honor.
If you missed Tribute, don’t fret, there’s still time to make your gift and support the STEAM programs that benefit our students. Simply text CCEF18 to 41444.
New executive director, Melanie Mack, said, “Tribute to the Stars was a success thanks to everyone who showed up and showed out!” “After 20 years, we had the highest net revenues EVER! Thanks to our new and returning sponsors, we more than doubled our fundraising – up 74% over 2017 and lowered our costs by 9.3% — It’s such a privilege to serve our students and this amazing community!”
