AR Cucina – Outstanding Italian

There’s dinner, and there’s brunch, but there’s no bad time to have a meal at AR Cucina. If you have not been to the Culver Boulevard restaurant that is the latest gift of Akasha Richmond to taste buds everywhere, now is good.

Dinner starts at 5:30, Tuesday through Sunday, and arriving early is recommended – the place fills up fast. Bread is baked to order, so ordering some right away is the way to go. There’s plenty of enticing appetizers to choose from, and a great wine list in addition to a very creative bar selection. Plates of selected cheeses, salami and olives are easy to love, and the temptation to make a meal out of antipasti is a temptation that should be indulged occasionally.

Just not too often, because the rest of the menu is even better. Handcrafted pastas, polenta with ragu, crisp pizza, meltingly tasty eggplant parmigiana, all made from the best ingredients as per Akasha’s long time focus on local sourcing.

Brunch is both Saturday and Sunday from 10 am, and every bit as satisfying, with the menu divided between savory and sweet, full plates and small bites. Plenty of places can offer a bottomless mimosa, but where else will you find a bottomless bellini? If sweet is your thing, order the ricotta pancakes or the tiramisu french toast. Something savory (to go with the brunch cocktails – sparkling white wine sangria or the best, truly the best bloody mary in town) the mushroom and goat cheese frittata or the smoked salmon pizza will make you happy.

Just go – brunch or dinner – and go hungry, because you will be leaving feeling very well fed.
