Sternberg & Dancers “Life Stories”

downloadFor over 30 years, Donna Sternberg & Dancers has been involved in opening dialogue in the community. This fall, Donna Sternberg & Dancers will present Life Stories in the Garden Room of the Veterans Memorial Complex on Saturday, November 4th at 8pm and Sunday, November 5th at 3pm. This new work examines what it’s like to grow old in a culture geared toward the young and draws on real-life experiences of seniors from the Culver City Senior Center and beyond. A multi-generational cast of performers will join the main company in the expression of these stories.

A photo exhibition, Aging Gracefully/ Lifecycle by Mara Zaslove will accompany the performance.

Life Stories gives a voice to the aging population in the Los Angeles area and offers a rare and unique point of view infrequently shared by the mainstream. The actual voices of these seniors will be woven together to create a sound score that will be integrated with the inspired movement. Surprising, humorous and poignant, their stories bring a new layer to the collective experience of the elderly in the greater Los Angeles area, uniting audiences in shared memories, perspectives and aspirations. The goal is to start a conversation about issues that seniors face. Save the date!
