AULA alumni, students, faculty and staff are invited to come together on Saturday, August 13 for a Day of Service organized by the Alumni Council.
Volunteers will meet at L.A. Kitchen (260 W. Ave. 26, Los Angeles) to work alongside a team of L.A. Kitchen chefs, kitchen staff, and alumni or students from the Empower Program (a culinary job training program for young men and women aging out of foster care and older men and women transitioning out of incarceration). Volunteers will be preparing reclaimed fruits and vegetables that will be transformed into nutritious meals and snacks for charitable partners that serve Los Angeles’ aging, low income, and homeless populations. No prior kitchen prep experience is necessary.
The Day of Service is Saturday, August 13 from 9:30 am – 12:30 pm. Volunteers will meet at L.A. Kitchen (more info below). If you would like to volunteer, please click here to complete the Day of Service registration form on the L.A. Kitchen website.
All volunteers will also need to review the L.A. Kitchen’s Volunteer Bill of Rights and complete the Volunteer Waiver and Release, found on their website.
If you have any questions about the Day of Service, please email [email protected] or call (310) 578-1080, ext. 118.
Please plan to arrive no later than 9:15 am to allow time for parking and check in. Street parking is available, but be sure to check all parking signs. Non-metered street parking is available on adjacent streets. Volunteers are encouraged to take the Metro. The Metro Gold Line Lincoln Heights/Cypress Park Station is just a block from L.A. Kitchen.
When you arrive, use the volunteer entrance, which is around the back from the L.A. Kitchen main entrance. If you’re heading SOUTH on Avenue 26, make a RIGHT on Humboldt Street, and follow the signage on the building.
