CCEF’s Tribute to the Stars Celebrated CCUSD’s Best and Brightest Employees and Volunteers

396The Culver City Education Foundation (CCEF) hosted the Stars of Culver City at our annual Tribute to the Stars gala fundraiser on Sony Picture Studio’s Main Street Saturday evening, May 3, 2014.

Our honorees were Teacher of the Year Jerod Dien,(pictured here with Sony Entertainment’s Janice Pober)  Classified Employee of the Year Virginia Reynosa, Superintendent’s Award winner Venice Family Clinic, President’s Award winners Tom and Paula Wilson, Shining Star Award winner Diana Hauptman, and our Volunteers of the Year: Olivia van de Weteringe Buys, Lezlie Brazil, Christie Ramsey and Angela Penchansky, Catalina Pop, Yvonne McLauchlan, Amy Shimoda, Lloyd Dixon, Brendan Constantine and Ann Chen.

At Tribute, every guest is a star by supporting our CCUSD students with purchases of tickets, auction items and raffle items from the balloon pop- not to mention meeting the one-minute challenge.

A few of our student stars were also on hand when our incomparable high school AVPA Jazz Band set the mood for the evening at the wine and cheese reception. Guests then enjoyed the awards ceremony, emceed by Culver City’s own tap-dancing star and stand-up stand-out, Steve Zee.

Twenty of the finest eateries lined Main Street, offering an astonishing variety of tastings- main dishes, salads and desserts; no one left hungry (and everyone now knows where to go for the foods they loved best). Twist and Shout Balloon hats & tattoos, The Platinum Photo Booth, Smashbox Cosmetics Counter, E-Z Beats, rockin’ DJ plus a bigger than ever dance floor had everyone partying under the stars.
CCEF gives special thanks to all who contributed to this extraordinary night, and to everyone who works throughout the year for the benefit of our students and our schools. Each and every one of you is a star. Together we are a mighty galaxy where students are nurtured and educated so they can shine for a lifetime.
