El Rincon PTA has been recognized by the Thirty-Third District of the California State PTA for it’s outstanding Autumn 2013 Red Ribbon Week program and events.
El Rincon’s Red Ribbon Week, a joint project of the school’s PTA and booster club, was co-chaired by Carol Zee and Summer McBride. It was a weeklong celebration of their school’s drug-free and bully-free community, featuring good character folders, student essays that began “I celebrate Red Ribbon Week because” (one from each grade was read aloud at morning assemblies), student pledge cards, classroom door decorating, a parent workshop (open and advertised to all parents in the school district), student team building exercises, student skits and an anti-bullying assembly given by The Story Pirates.
Because El Rincon PTA, one of 360 PTA units in the Thirty-Third District of the California State PTA, received the Third Place Award, their ideas and materials will be shared with PTAs in other school districts to help them create their own exciting and meaningful Red Ribbon Week programs.
