“Joyful, Joyful” is the theme of Angel City Chorale’s 2013 holiday concert , to be held at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday December 7 and Sunday December 8 at Wilshire United Methodist Church (4350 Wilshire Blvd., between Highland and Crenshaw).
We will feature exciting new medleys of traditional Christmas and Chanukah tunes, along with “our signature mix of styles: from classical to pop to world music.“ You’ll hear a pop version of “Do You Hear What I Hear,” and this season’s gospel piece is a rousing rendition of Beethoven’s Ninth, as adapted for the movie “Sister Act.” The men of ACC will sing “O Holy Night” as you’ve never heard it before, and the women will do a sweet “Bring a Torch” with flute, violin, and oboe. Four sing-along numbers round out a program that will get your holiday season off to an inspiring start. (OK, so Chanukah will be over, but you get the idea!)
Ticket pricing is a little different this year — not necessarily higher, but different. Adult (age 13-59) admission is $30 in advance or $35 at the door, but that’s the only category that gets a break for buying in advance. Seniors (age 60+) are $27 and children (age 5-12) are $22 whether you purchase in advance or at the door. If you buy on line, these same prices will be charged for general-admission seating, but there are additional categories: VIP Seating (rows 1-6) for $50 and Preferred Seating (rows 7-11) for $45 (adult), $42 (senior) and children ($37). Preferred and VIP seating MUST be purchased on the website.
Buying tickets in advance is a good idea and arriving early is essential to get a good seat.
