Will this be fun or what??? Grammy Award nominee Ambrosia will perform at the 8th Annual EarthFest LA coming to West Los Angeles College this Saturday, September 28. Also on stage will be popular repeats Paul Brown, a contemporary jazz and R&B artist and two-time Grammy winner; plus Chris Lightfoot, musician / songwriter. New to the stage this year is Freddie Ravel, who will have his Latin groove on and has recorded and composed with Earth, Wind and Fire and Santana. Radio personalities from KJazz and KOLA will MC the show. This is definitely a family-friendly concert, and will be held on the college’s Graduation Lawn overlooking the Westside, and is only part of the day-long event that makes up EarthFest LA 2013. The day’s program also includes discussions on environmental topics, information booths, e-waste collection, demonstrations, food and activities for the kids. This year’s EarthFest LA Event Chairs are Assemblywoman Holly Mitchell and Culver City Council Member / Vice Mayor Meghan Sahli-Wells. FREE PASSES available at EarthFestLA.org. Those who attended the Culver City Friends of the Library Tea Tasting a couple of years ago won’t want to miss a special event at the Culver City Julian Dixon Library (when?) this Saturday, September 28 at 11:00 a.m. They are bringing back Senior Manager of Tea and Master Tea Blender for Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf, David De Candia. He has written a book for children, entitled Master Davey and the Magic Tea House: Legend of the Blue Tiger. He will be reading his book, doing a tea tasting of his new special blend to complement the book, and imparting tea tips for audiences of all ages. You’ll want to definitely make a point of being at the library for this special opportunity – the Library is located at 4975 Overland Avenue ( but you knew that …)
How about something on Saturday evening, September 28? Culver City Rotarians and friends are jumping at the chance to do dinner in the Village and then walk over to take in the play “To Kill a Mockingbird” at the Theatre Palisades.
