Fiesta Music Scales from Big Bands to Beatles

 “The bands offer something for everyone. We have assembled one of our best line-ups in years. Fiesta guests will love the British beat on Saturday night,” said Entertainment Chairperson Ronnie Jayne. Live bands and community performances deliver nonstop entertainment at the main stage all weekend beginning Friday, 4:30 p.m., with The Swing Set for seniors. Isaac Harris and four of his Culver City High School friends comprise the Caravan Blues Band, which opens Fiesta Palooza Friday at 6:00 p.m., featuring the area’s top teen bands. To the sounds of mariachis, the opening ceremony on Saturday, 11:45 a.m., introduces city dignitaries, celebrities, Culver City Historical Society honoree Cathy Zermeno and Fiesta La Ballona Grand Marshall Dave Sanchez. Fiesta guests will dance to the “Greatest Hits” by live bands Saturday, 12:00 p.m., closing with the British Invasion at the main stage, 7:00-9:00 p.m., when Sgt. Pepper Band performs music by the Beatles and other English artists.
“World Beat” takes the main stage on Sunday, 12 p.m.

Community performances, which start Saturday and Sunday at 11:00 a.m., take center stage during band breaks for continuous entertainment.
Fiesta La Ballona (www.FiestaLaBallona.org) is held August 24-26 at Veterans Park, 4117 Overland Ave. Culver City.
