Bibliotactics: Libraries and the Colonial Public in Vietnam

This Saturday, March 28 at 2 p.m., join UCLA professor Cindy Anh Nguyen for a talk on her book Bibliotactics: Libraries and the Colonial Public in Vietnam, followed by a conversation with Chief Curator Joes Segal, an audience Q&A, and a book signing.

Nguyen examines how libraries in colonial and postcolonial Vietnam operated as instruments of power while also opening space for public engagement, critique, and alternative knowledge. Drawing on archival research across print culture, media, and institutional design, her work traces how information systems shape political life and collective memory.

A reception in the garden will follow, with books available for purchase.
