Culver City to Celebrate Juneteenth at Culver Steps

Culver City Mayor Dr. Daniel Lee and the City of Culver City’s Equity and Human Relations Advisory Committee (EHRAC) invite the Culver City community to a Juneteenth celebration on June 19, 2022, from 1 PM to 6 PM at The Culver Steps in the heart of Downtown Culver City! Mayor Lee, Culver City’s first Black Mayor, will lead this special event in celebration of Black music, spoken word and dance. Aloe Blacc, Will Gittens, Benkadi African Drummers and others are slated to perform during the festivities.

Juneteenth celebrates the emancipation and freedom of enslaved people of African descent in the United States. With the collaboration of local artists, businesses, and organizations, Culver City’s Juneteenth event brings a day of reflection, education, and celebration. This is a free family-friendly event (and Father’s Day), and complimentary food samples will be available as supplies last.

A special thank you to Community Partner KJLH Radio, 102.3 FM. The event is also sponsored by the City of Culver City, Amazon Studios, Apple Studios, Apple Music, Culver City Arts Foundation, Culver City Downtown Business Association, Hackman Capital Partners, Live Nation, NFL Network, Sony Pictures Entertainment, The Culver Steps, Boulevard Music, and Westfield.

The Culver Steps is located at 9300 Culver Boulevard.
