Suspects Arrested Following Shooting Investigation

On June 24, 2026, Culver City Police responded to multiple reports of gunfire in the area of Washington Boulevard and Hughes Avenue. Shortly afterward, officers learned that a gunshot victim had arrived at a nearby hospital for treatment for a non-life-threatening gunshot wound.

Detectives immediately began investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident. Through the review of evidence, investigators identified a vehicle believed to have been used during the shooting.

Detectives subsequently arrested the driver of that vehicle, 19-year-old Marryanah Busby of Los Angeles, who was determined to have been involved in the incident and was booked on suspicion of attempted murder.

As the investigation continued, detectives served multiple search warrants. That investigation led detectives to identify 18-year-old Nicholas Laushaul, of Los Angeles, as the suspected shooter.

At approximately 4:00 a.m. on July 27, 2026, members of the Culver City Police Department Emergency Response Team, Crime Impact Team, Special Enforcement Unit, Crisis Response Team, and detectives served a search warrant at a residence in Los Angeles.

Officers safely detained Laushaul without incident and located a loaded firearm. Laushaul was transported to the Culver City Police Department Jail for booking.

The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office has filed felony charges of attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon causing great bodily injury in this case.
