There are many other cities on the Westside where parking tickets are frequent and feared. Some cities will have you towed away if you are parked where you aren’t supposed to be. Culver City has had a mild reputation for decades, and that could be about to change.
In Culver City, there were 51,416 parking violations issued in 2025, and for the average of the region, it’s modest. On Monday, July 27, 2026, the City Council will consider changing parking violation fees.
Comparing Culver’s City fees to Beverly Hills, Los Angeles, Santa Monica and West Hollywood shows that Culver City often charges less – up to 41% less – than the average of what those other cities do for similar or identical violations. In addition, the cost to operate parking enforcement has increased.
Parking fines in Culver City have not been updated since 2008, while all of the other surrounding cities have updated theirs. For a one-time cost to the CCPD of just under $4000, the city’s projected increase in revenue will be more than $300,000.
The council will address this as Action Item #3 at Monday night’s meeting.
