Culver City 4 Peace to Hold Book Sale @ Jackson Market

Come and grab a book – make a donation; it’s all that simple. On Feb. 28 and March 1, Culver City 4 Peace will be holding Book Sale at Jackson Market, at 4065 Jackson Ave. from 8 am to 8 pm. The books for sale will be from the library of the late Conor Proffitt, and people are also welcome to donate books.

The proceeds will go to support medical students in Gaza, through Al-Ahzar University.

CC4Peace offered “As many of you know, we lost Conor, a dear friend and fellow advocate, last October. Conor had a deep love for books and learning. We’ve been holding on to his book collection and trying to think of ways to honor and remember him. And with that, we decided, much like love, it is best given away. Rather than simply donating or giving his books to another holding place, we’re hosting a Book Fair Fundraiser for medical students in Gaza.

“The library of Conor’s books will be open for folks to select a book and make a donation to Medical Students in Gaza. Gaza is one of the most literate places on the planet but the ongoing genocide has taken a toll on the education opportunities. Supporting their future, ability to study and build back what’s been destroyed is something Conor would want, and something that will echo into eternity. Al-Ahzar university has been systematically decimated and still, students find a way to learn, to study, and to save lives. The only way erasure happens is if we allow it. “

Attached are event flyers as well as additional information about the school and the needs of the medical students. Donations can be made HERE.

We hope to have an opening moment on Saturday, at 10am and a closing/acknowledgement Sunday evening, at 6pm. We would also love to hear your stories about Conor as well.”
