The long-dormant project for the corner of Centinela and Washington is coming back to life; construction activity looks as if it’s about to start again at the Culver Public Market. The project was given a green light almost six years ago, and not much has happened since then other than the occasional Christmas tree lot.
Equipment has been spotted on the property in West Culver City, which is scheduled to be a mixed-use project with approximately 13,000 square feet of restaurant space, and multi level parking for 145 vehicles.
The design already approved by the city includes open-air complex, decorated with a restored neon “Culver” sign, and a stage area for performances The development is being designed by KTGY.
Recent announcements online have Smog City Brewery and international chain Churrería El Moro early tenants.
The current project represents a scaled-back version of earlier plans for the site. Developer Regency Centers initially proposed a larger market hall concept but formally eliminated that component in 2024, reducing the overall scope of the development.
Developers “broke ground” on plan with a Winter 2025 timeline that had been previously announced. Construction costs are currently estimated at $24 million, but with the volatility of the construction industry having to consider fluctuating tariffs and ongoing labor shortages, the number is very likely to change.
Culver Public Market’s leasing materials offer that the project will be complete by the end of this year.
