City Approves Sepulveda Connects: Planning for LA28 and More

“Everything that can be done to improve things on Sepulveda will be a really great benefit to everyone who uses that street…Making it possible for people who live there to not be car-dependent will be extremely positive.” Disa Lindgren of Bike Culver City spoke to the Culver City Council meeting on Oct. 27, 2025, reinforcing that group’s support for the planned upgrades and changes along Sepulveda Boulevard.

The Sepulveda Corridor Transit project is one that has been in the planning stages for Metro for more than a decade. Years of public outreach on what kind of public transit would work best came to the conclusion that a rail line will be the best way to serve this major artery for the city of Los Angeles, and all the people on the westside. The changes planned for the length of Sepulveda that runs through Culver City include bike lanes.

Diana Chang, the city’s Chief Transportation Officer, gave a detailed presentation to the council about what was being considered. Traffic analysis and modeling is scheduled to continue until December of this year.

Council member Vera was recused for conflict of interest; he owns Sorrento Market on Sepulveda Boulevard, and spoke from the podium as a member of the public. “I did a survey and found that 45% of my customers park on Sepulveda… the city should consider the loss of revenue from the parking meters as well. It’s important to ensure that businesses are heard, and that we can have a meaningful conversation.”

It was noted by several at the meeting, including Council member Bubba Fish, that the Sepulveda line is Culver CityBus’s most popular route, going to UCLA. Line 6 makes up more than 50% of all CityBus riders.

Mayor Dan O’Brien thanked Chang and her team, saying “I know it’s because [Culver City] had such great work that we got moved to the front.”

The motion passed with four ayes, giving the Transportation Department a green light to proceed with research and design options. Getting all of this done before the LA28 Olympic Games will be high priority.
