CCUSD Board Looks Towards Parcel Tax on the November Ballot

The meeting of the Culver City Unified School Board on Sept. 24, 2025 saw agreement among the trustees to consider putting a parcel tax on the ballot for the general election in November of 2025.

The recent support from the City Council, which gave the district $2.5 million dollars to keep CCUSD from oversight by Los Angeles County, also requires that the district find more ways to increase funding.

In the conversation between putting the tax on the ballot for June (Primary) or November (General Election,) several factors were considered, including the cost of the ballot. While June would expect to see a lower voter turnout, which could make passage easier, the amount of time needed for a campaign might be too short to assure the needed amount of votes.

The tax needs 67% to vote yes for the measure to pass.

School Board President Triston Ezidore noted “It’s my belief that the community would pass this…and I’d like to see a cost analysis,” emphasizing that the more information they had to move forward, the more confident they would feel .

School Superintendent Dr. Alfonso Jiménez responded,  “Now that we have an idea that the board would prefer … November, it’s just a discussion. We can bring this back.”
