Dear Editor,
I’ve supported Culver City Crossroads because I value (and you claim to offer) ‘accurate, local reporting’. But recent headlines have made me question whether you’re meeting the standard of professional journalism that such a mission requires.
Two recent examples:
“Masked Gunmen at Handy J Carwash Create Panic – Mares Taken” — sensational framing, vague on facts, possible misgendering, and lacking immediate context that these were federal agents.
“California Stands for Democracy with Redistricting – Bryan Speaks at Capitol Gathering” — adopts a partisan slogan as fact, omits opposing perspectives, and lacks specificity.
These choices undermine credibility. If Crossroads is to claim it provides accurate information essential to democracy, I hope you will take greater care to avoid partisan framing and provide fuller context in your headlines and reporting.
My subscription is now in doubt. Please try harder.
Sincerely,
Pedro Frigola
Editor’s Note – “California Stands for Democracy…” is a press release from the 55th Assembly District, and is signed as such.
The headline on “Handy J Carwash” was changed after initial publication, but before this correspondence was received.
