On Saturday night, September 7, 2024 the Culver City Democratic Club will be hosting the 6 pm showing of One Person, One Vote? at the Culver Theater (formerly the Arclight) at 9500 Culver Blvd. Come and take a look at very special film.
Culver City’s own Maximina Juson, who you may remember as the founder of the Culver City Catalyst and as the host of our 2022 School Board forum, has made one of the year’s most exciting political documentaries. One Person, One Vote? will be broadcast Sept. 30 on PBS, launching the 2024-25 season of Independent Lens, and screening all week at the Culver Theater Sept. 6-13.
Director/producer/cinematographer/editor Juson will be there for a Q&A and socializing after the movie, and the club will receive a portion of the ticket sales.
One Person, One Vote? creatively explains the Electoral College by following four 2020 electors pledged to different Presidential candidates and includes a diverse cast of actors performing texts from the Constitutional Convention and the Federalist Papers. Juson was also at the Capitol on January 6, 2021 to film the certification of the electoral vote. One Person, One Vote? incorporates her chilling never-before-seen footage of the insurrection.
