Philadelphia saxophonist Elliott Levin visits Culver City’s Industry Cafe & Jazz on Thursday May 9 for an evening of improvised music accompanied by the local bass and drums team of Jeff Schwartz and Peter Valsamis and joined by special guests.
Levin has worked with artists ranging from smooth R&B legends Harold Melvin & the Blue Notes to avant-garde pianist Cecil Taylor. Like Taylor, his performances often include original poetry alongside intense instrumental solos.
The group will perform between 6:30 and 9PM. There is no cover charge, but the Industry Cafe & Jazz offers a full menu of delicious Ethiopian, Eritrean, and soul food as well as beer and wine.
