The Boneyard Off Leash Dog Park, Culver City’s own place for pups to play, is one of a handful of featured dog parks in Southern California highlighted on the pets.tv show “Top Dog Parks in Southern California.”
Of the small group of parks described in the episode, The Boneyard is the only one open past dusk, with lights which were donated through the fundraising efforts of Friends of The Culver City Dog Park. The park is open daily from sunrise to 10 pm, giving dog owners a place to let their pets run around and get the exercise they need with the friends they enjoy.
Open since 2006, there are separate enclosures for large and small dogs, and a ‘time-out’ space for dogs that need a moment to calm down. The Boneyard has a decomposed granite ground cover which is considered to be more absorbent and practical than grass.
The park is located adjacent to the Bill Botts Field at Culver City Park, at Jefferson and Duquesne, the Boneyard was created as a joint effort though the volunteer group, Friends of The Culver City Dog Park and the city’s Public Works Department.
The show is featured on Spectrum Channel 192 and also on AT&T – the next showing scheduled for Spectrum is at 8:30 am on Thursday, December 7, 2023.
