Local Activist Gina Polesetsky was recognized at the Culver Pride Ride on June 3, 2023 with the event’s Building Community Award.
This award honors a person or group who has shown outstanding service regarding lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer+ (LGBTQ+) concerns. The award honors nominees who are active participants in improving the climate of diversity and inclusion for LGBTQ+ people in Culver City. She was nominated by CCUSD Superintendent Quoc Tran.
“We value your leadership in curating the LGBTQIA Playdates with CCUSD families as well as the Parent Education Night on ‘Supporting Our Gender-Expansive Community’ featuring guest speaker, Lisa Koenecke as presented by Culver City Council PTA,” said CCUSD Board President Paula Amezola in presenting the award. “These events have forever impacted the future and history of our community. We are so grateful that you are setting this precedent and modeling inclusion for young people throughout the region.”
