WLAC to Debut California Center for Climate Change Education

A unique and historic new program is about to open at West Los Angeles College; the California Center for Climate Change Education, on Earth Day, April 22, 2023 from 9 am to 1 pm.

WLAC will welcome Assemblymember Isaac Bryan and other distinguished speakers to the opening of The California Center for Climate Change Education at West Los Angeles College. The Center is a first-of-its-kind, forward-looking resource that will help prepare students for good-paying, fulfilling careers in the clean energy and climate technology industries.

The Center was funded with a state allocation of $5 million as part of AB 1913, sponsored by Asm. Isaac G. Bryan and $1.3 million from the federal government were sponsored by then-Rep. Karen Bass (and now City of Los Angeles Mayor) and Sen. Alex Padilla. The federal funding was approved in the Federal Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2023.

After the opening ceremony, stay for the Earth Day Fair, where you can browse booths, attend a workshop, get valuable information and hear from David F. McNeill, Executive Officer of the Baldwin Hills Conservancy and other distinguished speakers. This event is themed ““Committed to Create Climate Resilient Communities” and is coordinated by Greener Way Associates.
