Chef Dara Yu, 22, a Culver City High School graduate who recently earned recognition as the youngest winner of the TV show MasterChef, will be a co-chair of A Taste of Culver City, a fundraising event for the Culver City Education Foundation (CCEF). The event will be held on the lot of Amazon Studios in downtown Culver City on May 7, 2023, from 1-5pm with tickets priced at $65-95.
Dara Yu and Shirley Chung, a renowned local chef and owner of Ms. Chi Café, will provide live cooking demonstrations on stage at the event. “I have so much love for my hometown, so it is a real joy to host this event. I am looking forward to sharing my passion for cooking with the next generation of student chefs from CCUSD,” Chef Yu said.
A Taste of Culver City will feature food & beverage tastings from more than a dozen local restaurants, entertainment, student performances, and an online auction. Visit the event website, www.ccef4schools.org/taste, for a list of participating restaurants and additional details. Tickets must be purchased by April 28.
Funds raised from A Taste of Culver City provide critical resources needed to sustain and grow exceptional learning opportunities for over 7,000 students at every CCUSD school. For more than 40 years, CCEF has successfully contributed to the academic achievement and overall success of K-12 students across the Culver City Unified School District, supporting programs that inspire learning and help students thrive.
